Spare Parts |

Items in your materials inventory may be identified as spare parts for a particular piece of equipment or space. This serves as useful reference information—for example, when you are writing up a work order for a repair on a particular piece of equipment, you can check the list of spare parts associated with that equipment. You can then put those parts on reserve for the work order, making sure that the parts will be available if they're needed.
Many MainBoss sites use a very wide definition for what counts as a spare part. For example, if a forklift truck takes three quarts of motor oil for an oil change, you could list those three quarts as a "spare part" for the truck. This is often useful information; by looking at MainBoss records, you'll be able to tell everything that might be needed during a maintenance job.
Note: Before you can specify that an item is a spare part, you must have an inventory record for that item. For more information on inventory records, see Inventory Items. |
