To create a new service contract, click the New button in the Service Contracts browser. To edit an existing service contract, find the contract in the Service Contracts browser and then click Edit. In both cases, MainBoss opens a window that contains the following:
- Code: An identification code for this service contract (15 characters maximum).
- Desc.: A brief description of this service contract (30 characters maximum).
- Vendor: The contractor. When you drop the arrow, MainBoss will display your Vendor table; therefore, you should make sure that the service contractor appears in your Vendor table. For more information on the Vendor table, see Vendors.
- New Vendor: If the service contractor is not currently in your Vendor table, you can click this button to add the contractor to the table. MainBoss opens a window where you can enter information about the contractor.
- Start Date: The date when the contracted coverage begins.
- End Date: The date when the contract expires.
- Cost: The cost of the contract.
- Coverage: The settings in this area indicate what the contract covers.
- Parts: Checkmark this if the contract covers the cost of parts.
- Labor: Checkmark this if the contract covers the cost of labor.
- Add Equipment: Click this to specify a piece of equipment that is covered by this service contract. MainBoss will display the Equipment browser; use the browser to select a piece of equipment covered, then click Ok. You will see the specified equipment appear in the list of units covered by this contract. (For more about the Equipment browser, see Browsing the Equipment Table.)
- Add Space: Click this to specify a space that is covered by this service contract. MainBoss will display the Space browser; use the browser to select a space covered, then click Ok. You will see the specified space appear in the list of units covered by this contract. (For more about the Space browser, see Browsing the Space Table.)
- Remove Unit: Lets you delete a unit for the list of units covered. Click the unit where it appears in the list, then click Remove Unit.
- Print Serviced Units: Prints a report on one or more service contracts and the units they cover.
- Save & New: Saves the current record and clears fields in the window so you can enter a new record.
- Clone: Creates a new service contract that has the same information as the current one. The "Code" field in the new entry is blank, so that you can fill in a new code. You can also edit fields in the new service contract where information differs from the one you copied.
- Delete: Deletes the service contract.
- Save: Saves the current record, but leaves all data as is. You can then continue to edit the same record.
- Cancel: Closes the editor window. MainBoss discards any new information or changes that you haven't explicitly saved with Save.
