Custom Captions

Captions appear in the title lines of MainBoss windows. For example, the default caption of the window for entering new caption text is Customize Caption Text.

Each caption used by MainBoss has an associated key. This is a string that MainBoss uses internally to identify the caption. Typically, the key is the same (or similar) to the English language version of the caption.

To specify a new caption, you start in the Custom Text window (described in Creating Custom Text). Click the message file whose caption you want to change, then click Captions. MainBoss displays a window that contains the following:

• Caption Key: This drop-down list shows all the caption keys used by MainBoss. To change a particular caption, you must first find the key in this list.
• Default Caption Text: The default caption associated with the selected "Caption Key".
• Custom Caption Text: The new caption that you want to use. Note that you cannot type the new caption into this field until you clear the checkmark for Use Default Text.
• Use Default Text: This box starts out checkmarked. To specify custom text, you must click the box to clear the checkmark. This will enable the "Custom Caption Text" field so that you can enter a new caption.
• Save: Saves any changes you have made, then closes the window.
• Cancel: Closes the window without saving any changes.
