Inventory Categories

The Inventory Categories table makes it possible to group inventory items into classes. For example, you might create classes like belts, filters, lubricants, and so on. While it is not necessary to create any inventory categories at all, most MainBoss users find that such classes are a helpful method of organization.

Note: Inventory categories are used when entering information about inventory items. For further information on inventory items, see Inventory Items.

The Inventory Categories table is a simple table; for more information, see Simple Tables. You access the Inventory Categories browser with Inventory —> Tables —> Categories. Entries in the Inventory Categories table consist of:

Code: A unique identifier code (10 characters maximum)
Description: A description of the inventory category (30 characters maximum)

For example, a code might be BALLAST and the description might be FLUORESCENT BALLASTS.
