FILTFUELOIL-SA Filter/Strainer Fuel Oil - Semi-Annual

Application:                                                Man Hours 1
This applies to inline cartridge filters used on light fuel oils No. 1, 2, or 4,
as well as the larger basket type used on heavier oils (#5 or #6).


Special Instructions:

1.  Flammable liquids are being handled.  Use all applicable safety precautions.
2.  Check with operating personnel before starting work.
3.  Secure and tag pumps, burners, and other necessary equipment.
4.  Shut off and tag inlet and outlet valves.
5.  Wear gloves while cleaning strainer.  Consult the Material Safety Data Sheets
    (MSDS) for proper personal protective equipment (PPE).


Items to Check & Initial Completion:

1. ___ Drain housing, bowl, etc.
2. ___ Remove covers, bowls, housing, etc. to filter/strainer.
3. ___ Remove filter/strainer.  Check gasket and replace if required.
4. ___ Clean bowl, housing, etc. with approved solvent.
5. ___ Clean strainer with approved solvent.
6. ___ Replace filter.  Reinstall strainer.
7. ___ Replace cover bowl and clean any spillage from the outside.
8. ___ Open inlet valve and vent air.
9. ___ Check for leaks.
10.___ Open outlet valve, remove tags from valves, pumps, burners, or other
       equipment.
11.___ Operate equipment and re-check filter.


Tools and Materials:

1.  Standard Tool kit.
    Plus Pipe wrenches to 24"
         Tubing cutters
         Flaring tool
         Small acetylene outfit
         Packing tool kit and packing
         3/4" socket set
         Crescent wrenches to 14"
2.  Gaskets and filters
3.  Solvents approved for use with fuel oils.  Consult the MSDS for hazardous
ingredients and proper PPE.
