Entries in the Viewing Program table are displayed with an editor window that may contain the following:
- Program Name: The normal name of the viewing program (for example, MICROSOFT WORD).
- View Command: The command line for invoking the viewing program. Typically, this is the name of the file containing the program. You can either type the name directly or click the accompanying Select button to look through your file system and find the file. Typically, this will be a file with the name extension .EXE, as in WINWORD.EXE.
- Print Command: The command line for invoking the printing program. Typically, this is the name of the file containing the program. You can either type the name directly or click the accompanying Select button to look through your file system and find the file. Typically, this will be a file with the name extension .EXE, as in WINWORD.EXE.
- Startup Mode: Specifies what sort of window should be used when the viewing or printing program starts up. Possibilities are:
- Normal: A normal window. "Normal" is defined by the program you are starting—some programs normally use big windows while others normally use smaller ones.
- Minimized: The smallest window size that the program allows. In many cases, this means that the window will not be seen at all—you will only see an entry for it on your Windows program bar.
- Maximized: The largest window size that the program allows. Typically, this means your entire screen, although some programs cannot make use of windows that large.
- Save & New: Saves the current record and clears fields in the window so you can enter a new record.
- Clone: Creates a new table entry that has the same information as the current entry. The "Code" field in the new entry is blank, so that you can fill in a new code.
- Delete: Deletes the current entry.
- Save: Saves the current record, but leaves all data as is. You can then continue to edit the same record.
- Cancel: Closes the editor window. MainBoss discards any new information or changes that you haven't explicitly saved with Save.
