Culture information is a collection of settings maintained by Windows. It can specify such things as a country, a language, and conventions for writing dates and currency values. MainBoss uses culture information to specify a person's preferred language, and the language to be used when displaying text.
When MainBoss wants you to specify culture information, it displays a window containing the following:
Language list: Each entry in the list has a "Display Name" (giving the name of a language and possibly also a location) and a "Name" (which is a short code standing for that language-country combination). To specify a particular language and country, click a line in the list.
Apply Filter: Lets you set up a filter to select which records should be shown in the table. For more information, see Table Filters.
Clear: Unselects any entry that is currently selected.
: Lets you search through the list of records for a particular record. For more information, see Searching for a Particular Record. The button has an accompanying drop-down list containing the following:
Find Next: Uses the same search condition(s) as your most recent search and finds the next record in the table that matches the condition(s). If the search reaches the end of the table without finding a matching record, it goes to the start of the table and continues the search.
Find Previous: Same as Find Next except that it goes backward in the table. If the search reaches the start of the table without finding a matching record, it goes to the end of the table and continues the search.
Select: Selects the line that is currently highlighted and returns to the previous window. For example, if this window was displayed to let you pick a contact person's preferred language, clicking Select will return to that person's Contacts record and will fill in the person's "Preferred Language" field with the selected language.
Cancel: Closes the selection window without selecting anything.
For more information on contacts, see Contacts. For more information on creating or editing contact records, see Editing Contacts. For general information on table viewers, see Using Table Viewers.
