The STATus Command

Syntax:

          STATus [+HISTory] [+Verbose]

Description:

The STATus command displays information about your mailbox. Typical output might be

          Mailbox of jsmith
          1 Unread Message
          3 Saved Messages
          2 Outbound Messages (1 rejected)
10 of 20 Llinks being used

The first line tells whose mailbox you are using. This is important if you use the NewBox command to look at different mailboxes. The

          (1 rejected)

on the end of the Outbound message line indicates that one of the Outbound messages couldn't be delivered for some reason (for example, MAIL8 couldn't find the proper recipient because the address was misspelled). See "expl mail error" for more information.

The last line tells how much of your mail.box file is being used. The first number tells how many LLinks actually contain mail, and the second gives the current size of the mailbox.

The STATus command also tells you if you currently have an advisory message in effect. For further information, see "expl mail advisory".

Possible Options:

+Verbose
adds extra information to the output of STATus. The first extra line gives the internal version number of your version of MAIL8. Site administrators should include this number when reporting any problems with MAIL8. Additional lines tell the positions of the current message pointers in each of the mailbox drawers.
+HISTory
displays the last few commands you have entered during the current MAIL8 session. +HISTory automatically implies +Verbose. If you are reporting a problem with MAIL8, please use this option to get a record of the commands you executed before the problem occurred.
