BYE - sign off the system.

Syntax:

bye [+Clear] [-Verbose]

Examples:

bye
bye +c

Options:

+Clear
ruthlessly removes files from the AFT before signing you off.
-Verbose
causes only the total cost of the TSS session to be printed.

Description:

BYE is a command used to sign off and disconnect from the central system. If you have any temporary files in your AFT when you give the BYE command, BYE will refuse to sign you off and will issue a list of the files that will be lost followed by the error message:

The above temporary files will be lost unless saved.
Please see "explain bye" for details or use "bye +Clear"

This is intended to prevent you from forgetting to save information in temporary files that you really want to keep. To save the contents of a temporary file, use the COPY command to copy them into a permanent file. To find out what temporary files you have, use the AFT command.

If and when you are sure you have saved the files you need, you can force a direct signoff by using the "+Clear" option, as in

bye +c
